Animal Farm

Animal Farm is a group of musician-educators who perform original songs and sketches for children and families. Inspired by the challenges and triumphs of the children they have taught, Seth Adams (The Sheriff) and David Ladon (Farmer Dave) write songs about community, self-expression, and growing up through the eyes of our furry, feathered, scaly, and shell-dwelling friends. Blending original music, educational comedy, and audience participation, Animal Farm has performed their energetic live show for tens of thousands of children and families at schools, parks, libraries, museums, and other cultural institutions throughout Illinois and beyond.

Animal Farm's original songs are layered, both musically and lyrically, so that younger listeners can sing along to accessible melodies like the chorus of "Awesome Possum" or shout animal noises in "Cranky Pants," while their older siblings can pick up on the complex ideas and sophisticated wordplay embedded in the material. Guided by famed producer Mike Hagler (Wilco, Neko Case), their 2018 album "We Are One" won a National Parenting Product Award, Parents Choice Recommended Award, and Mom's Choice Gold Award.

“It was such a pleasure having Animal Farm perform at The Field Museum! Kids and adults alike all enjoyed the music – all of the band members were super friendly and engaging to families, and the music was really catchy and fun. Before the performance, working with the band to plan the event was a breeze. I’d highly recommend working with Animal Farm!”
-Alyssa, The Field Museum

"Sometimes cool is indefinable, some times it isn’t.  This kiddie set is cool because it doesn’t talk down to the kids giving them pop songs of their own."
-Midwest Record
